Position Summary
Inline’s global team is seeking a highly organized, mature, and proactive Senior People Operations professional to join us in Taipei.  The right person will play a pivotal role in supporting inliners in Taiwan with the resources they need, and take the lead engaging with local and national government for health, safety, and workplace standards.  This role will provide opportunities to nurture your skills and explore career paths within a growing, customer-centric software company.  The level and title will depend on your skills and experience. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Onboard new employees across Taiwan with care and thoughtfulness, and ensure they have access to necessary resources.
  • Responsible for and manage programs to help keep inliners physically healthy (on-site medical services, health checks, company-provided meal choices, etc.)
  • Take the lead on initiatives to keep inliners and visitors physically safe, and be one of inline’s official OSHA-certified safety officers
  • Support employees on a day-to-day basis and answer questions about benefits and policies etc.
    • Moms and Dads: inline has a lot of parents with children, help them with the specific resources and accommodations they need
    • Newlyweds: inline has a lot of newly-married people, take the lead helping them with the specific types of accommodations they need
    • Interns: 50+ people have interned at inline in recent years, take the lead helping them learn about the world of work, and support with resources they need (but might not know are available)
    • Single professionals: half of the people working at inline are single, engage and support them with the resources they need
    • People with Disabilities: we actively try to recruit talented professionals who happen to have disabilities, and accommodate inliners who become disabled - have an impact by taking the lead on how we can best accommodate
    • Grandparents: take the lead learning what we can do to support the unique needs of grandparents working at inline (as soon we have some!)
  • Take a lead role in day-to-day employee relations, from coordination and clarification, through mediation and successful resolutions.
  • Help keep employee records complete, up to date, and organized in the inline HRIS tools
  • Collaborately engage with the Taipei City government (OSHA), Immigration Bureau (visas for new hires), Ministry of Labor (LSA compliance), and other agencies both proactively and reactively
  • As time permits, partner with department heads and hiring managers to identify talent gaps and take the necessary actions for bridging the gap of organizational capability.
    • Contacting candidates, scheduling interviews, and other recruiting tasks.

Requirements

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed

  • Credentials: No university degree is required for this position, but rest assured this is a professional career-track role. We don’t require a university degree for our engineering (RD) roles, either.
  • Breadth of Experience: You must have a minimum 5 years of Full-Time experience in a professional role, either in People Ops, or Accounting, or Account Management (in a B2B business), or Marketing, or as a Paralegal, or in Customer Support (for professional business customers), or Sales.
  • 2-year experience in a multinational company is strong plus!
  • Language: Proficient in both English and Chinese as the working languages.
  • Wisdom: You must posses the maturity to sensibly decide how to handle each of a wide variety of types of challenges, with the flexibility to be persuaded by effective debate with people who have 20 years of management experience.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent observational skills and situational awareness, and you use those to decide what not to say, and how to make sure what you do say is both understood and perceived the way you intended.  
  • Quick Study: High learning agility, to find where to learn what you need to learn, and understand new concepts, skills, or tasks rapidly and efficiently.
  • Project Organization: Skilled at organizing streams of new and different projects and tasks, and keeping lists of past, current, and future tasks organized self-discipline, and able to handle details with a follow-through attitude.
  • Parallel-Tasking: Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple work streams during the same day, adept at handling time or resource constraints.
  • Knowledge: Have general knowledge of the employee lifecycle, labor laws and regulations.
  • Practical Skills: Skilled user of G Suite (aka Google Workplace), ready and willing to use a Mac. Nice to have: skills using MS Office (Word/Powerpoint/Excel) - but we use Google.
  • Certification: Currently have a Taiwan class A certification for Occupational Safety and Health manager (甲種職業安全衛生業務主管), if you do not have this certification the company will pay for you to obtain this certification within your first 3 months of employment.

Interview process

Phone call will happen first, to meet you (screening call). 

Then, a quiz and a test project you can do at home, followed by a Google Meet to review your assessments. 

Then, an interview loop at the inline office, for either an entire morning or an afternoon. 

Some of the interviews will be 1:1, some will be with several people.  Some of the interviews will be in English, some will be in Chinese.  Then we'll share some details about our mindset and culture, and you can ask anything you'd like to.
